Lady Joanna Thornhill (Endowed) Primary School

Learning for the Head, Heart and Hand

In History we have been learning about who Lady Joanna Thornhill is. We have found out that she lived about 250 years ago in Wye. We have used our History learning to help us write a biography, about Lady Joanna, in English. We thought about our last piece of non-fiction writing, that we covered in Term 3, and thought about the similarities and differences. Both books were non-fiction, had titles, pictures and facts. One difference we noticed was that Lady Joanna's history was longer ago and beyond living memory, whereas some of the toys we learnt about were around within living memory.

This week we have been learning about money. One thing we have learnt about money is that there are two symbols: £ (pounds) and p (pence). We can make £2, using two £1 coins, we can use two £5 notes to make £10 and 100 pence has the same value as a £1.
