Learning for the Head, Heart and Hand

19th May 2023

Hello Everyone,

This week we have been learning a special song and dance for our performance at the summer fair, I’m sure you may get to hear and see it over the next few weeks!

Last week in Maths we were learning all about halves being two equal parts of a whole.  This week we have been looking at quarters and they being four equal parts of a whole.  quarters are a little bit trickier, but we are working on it!!

We have written some amazing sentences during our English.  The story of Rumpelstiltskin has moved on to thinking about how the Millar’s daughter felt when she was left in the room full of straw and what she said to Rumpelstiltskin.  We have practised using speech marks, thinking about when the talking starts and stops, whilst also thinking about full stops and capital letters!

Some of the sunflowers are starting to grow, just very tiny shoots at the moment but we are taking good care of them.  The potatoes are just starting to sprout too.

In R.E. we have been looking at different places of worship and why they are sacred.  We were particularly impressed by the beauty of the Mosques and Synagogues and the lovely stained glass windows in Churches.

We have designed our own playgrounds as part of our Geography unit this week.  The designs are amazing…however, I don’t know how Ms Foster would feel about a swimming pool with slide, go cart track and unicorns in the Year 1 playground.

We have been working really hard on our phonics all week.  We have been digraph detectives, spotting different graphemes in human and alien words.

Our new Little Wandle Ebooks have been posted onto our accounts today, please check them out if you are able.

Our marble challenge this week has been won by the Snowdrop team with a score of 44, wow!   Well done to the other teams who did amazingly too!

We hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Love from the Fox Class.
