Learning for the Head, Heart and Hand

28th April 2023

Hello Everyone,

We are back into the swing of school now and really on fire with our English work.  The sentences and ideas are fantastic, we are working on using the new graphemes we have learnt in the words we are writing too.  We are practising our letter formation so everyone can read the amazing ideas we have thought of.

In Maths we are continuing to practise counting in 2s, 10s and 5s.  We are getting pretty good at it now.  We are using this counting practically, counting equal groups of objects in 2s, 5s and 10s.

During science this week, we examined plants and their roots through magnifying glasses.  Mrs Ward kindly grew loads of weeds in her garden for us to examine, we had lots of unexpected wild life in the roots too!  Then we drew the plants from life and labelled the drawing.  A huge thank you to everybody who has donated plant pots, seeds and compost, we really appreciate it 😊

We are continuing to practise the graphemes from terms 1 and 2 during phonics.  We are also being Digraph Detectives spotting them in alien words.  Thank you to everyone who came to the Phonic screener talk today.  Details of the talk are on the main Year 1 page.

Our new Little Wandle Ebooks have been posted onto our accounts today, please check them out if you are able.

Our marble challenge this week has been won by the Primrose and Bluebell teams with scores of 36.   Well done to the other teams who did amazingly too!

We hope you all have a super weekend!

Love from the Fox Class.
