This week we have had lots of fun in school, filled with lots of learning opportunities.
We enjoyed creating our own seed bombs, inspired by the artist Antony Gormley, using compost, clay powder and seeds. We mixed this all with water and squished it altogether, getting very messy in the process! We then shaped them into simple human figures and will display them. As the sun comes out, and with a bit of water, they will then hopefully bloom and turn into a beautiful meadow!
As part of Science this week, we planted seed potatoes. We enjoyed planting the seed potatoes in the allotment, within the school grounds, and wrote a set of instructions about the process.
In Maths we learnt about making equal groups and worked practically to share shells, treasure coins, plastic bugs and pebbles into equal groups.
We are also very excited to begin our new English topic. We will be learning, retelling and rewriting the story: Rumplestiltskin. To start our topic, we created a mindmap about all the fairytales we already know, and their features. We thought about settings, good and bad characters and objects within the story. We then learnt about riddles and began to write our own for a fairytale of our choice.
Enjoy the long weekend!
