Learning for the Head, Heart and Hand

5th May 2023

Hello Everyone,

What a glorious weekend we had for the bank holiday, we hope you all had a chance to enjoy the great outdoors.

We have been making the most of the weather and we have been out in the allotment at the front of the school planting our seed potatoes.  If they all grow we should have quite the crop, with 60 seed potatoes planted!!  We were amazed by all the different ways we eat potatoes, some of us counted eight different ways that we eat them!

In English this week we are exploring traditional fairy tales.  We have given each other clues as to the characters appearance, the setting of the story, any objects associated with the story and key phrases that the characters might say.  Maybe you make play a guessing game at home for some fairy tale characters?

In Maths we are continuing to practise counting in 2s, 10s and 5s and using this skill as opposed to counting individual objects. We have also practised sharing different objects practically.  I wonder if there are things you could practise sharing out at home?

In geography we are looking at our familiar environment using aeriel photography.  We used google earth (that was great fun) to find the school and other familiar landmarks.  It’s much harder to find them, as they look so different from an aerial view.  We were able to recall the names of the countries in the United Kingdom and the name of our capital city.

Our new Little Wandle Ebooks have been posted onto our accounts today, please check them out if you are able.

Our marble challenge this week has been won by the Daffodil team with a score of 22.   Well done to the other teams who did amazingly too!

We hope you all have a super weekend!

Love from the Fox Class.
