Lady Joanna Thornhill (Endowed) Primary School

Learning for the Head, Heart and Hand

Friday 14th July 2023

We have had a fantastic week, enjoying lots of exciting learning and occasions!

We started the week by watching the Year 6 dress rehearsal of ‘Matilda’. It was fantastic, and we enjoyed seeing all the singing and dancing! We think the Year 6’s have worked very hard, being creative, resilient, compassionate and collaborative!

We also enjoyed DT Day, and we designed and made smoothies. First, we learnt what a fruit is and how it is different to a vegetable. We then thought about where they grow! Our favourite part was tasting the fruit and thinking about what they looked like, smelt like and tasted like. Not many of us enjoyed the spinach, but we all loved the strawberries! Miss Hayward then brought in her blitzer, and we created our smoothies. We thought they might taste better with juice, as some were a little bitter!

We have finished writing and illustrating our Lady Joanna biography and are so proud of all the facts we have remembered! Making books, using our knowledge and learning, has been very exciting and we hope we can continue to do this in Year 2!

We can’t believe next week is our last week! We are all starting to feel very nervous, but excited at the same time.
