Music at Lady Joanna Thornhill Primary School

At Lady Joanna Thornhill we wish to instil a love of music in our pupils and have a range of different opportunities on offer to develop individual interests and talent. 

We are very lucky to have a fantastic specialist Music teacher, Mr Connolly, who teaches a variety of different music lessons, from singing to different styles of percussion instruments. All of our Year 4 and Year 5 pupils have instrumental music lessons during term time on rotation with Mr Connolly, learning either the ukelele or the guitar. He also runs our school choir and a music tech club. Plans this year for other extra curricular offers include a Samba Club to develop percussion across the school, as well as a newly established Chamber Choir, run by one of our talented teachers, Mr Phillips. 

As a school we take part in a wide range of musical events and activities, both locally as part of the village community and further afield. For example we take part in Young Voices at The O2 every other year: www.youngvoices.co.uk

Individual/Group lessons

We offer a range of private music lessons for children who are interested in learning to play an instrument, via Kent Music and independent teachers.

Rocksteady Music School

If becoming a future rock or pop star is more your child's thing, we have the amazing Rocksteady Music School. With Rocksteady your child can learn to play an instrument in their own band with no experience necessary.
