WELCOME TO LADY JOANNA THORNHILL (ENDOWED) PRIMARY SCHOOL
Things to remember when your child starts school
- Please do check your child’s book bag daily for any letters, notes that are sent out by the teachers. The majority of letters are sent out electronically, but notes and reports are sometimes sent home with your child.
- Please do read the school newsletter each week as it contains information that parents need to be aware of and pictures from sports fixtures or class activities.
- Stationery is provided for pupils so children do not need to bring anything in. They will need a book bag for their reading books and reading record
- Please provide your child with a water bottle each day (no juice please). Fruit/vegetables are available in school, but if you provide a snack it should be healthy (no crisps, sweets or chocolate and no items containing nuts) and please limit the use of single use plastic. Suggested snacks may include
- Fresh Fruit and vegetables
- Bread sticks
- Crackers
- Plain rice cakes
- Mini sandwich and wraps
- Bread
- Cheese
- Boiled egg
- Pieces of meat e.g. chicken breast
- Seeds
- During Winter months please ensure that your child has warm outdoor wear as they will still be going outside during breaks. During Summer months, please provide your child with a hat and light rain coat, and apply sunscreen. If your child suffers from hayfever, please ensure that you provide anti histamine to the school office and complete a medication form.
- Clubs change on a termly basis, we send out form links to parents to access these, but you can view them on the school website at www.ladyj.kent.sch.uk/extra-curricular-1 If you have any queries regarding clubs, you should email clubs@ladyj.kent.sch.uk for assistance. If clubs are cancelled, we always notify parents via text message. We also add cancellations to the school website calendar by 2pm on the day of the club – we do urge parents to always check the website as occasionally a text message may not be received.
- Please ensure you read text messages and emails that come out from school and check the school website for information. You can subscribe to the school calendar, by visiting www.ladyj.kent.sch.uk/diary
