OPAL - (Outdoor Play and Learning

Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL)
At lunchtime, our children enjoy Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL), a programme that encourages creativity, independence, and active play. Children can choose from a variety of engaging activities across different themed zones, including:

  • Sand pit
  • Ball games
  • Quiet area with small world play and arts & crafts
  • Loose parts construction (using tyres, pallets, and more)
  • Den building
  • Dressing up
  • Music and dance
  • Role play
  • Scooters and other wheeled toys

Reception children begin to join OPAL sessions once they are settled in and their teachers feel they’re ready to explore the larger outdoor environment.

We welcome parent support for OPAL through donations of used items such as dressing-up clothes, construction materials, or toys. When needed, the OPAL team will send out specific requests. Your contributions help keep this play experience fresh, fun, and exciting for all our children.
