Ways to help at home

Please see the ideas and links below, if you would like to support your child at home.

Practise and application is so important and enables key skills and learning to become embedded.

Phonics & Reading

  • Use the suggestions, in the class blog, and practise the new graphemes and digraphs in familiar words.

  • Keep looking back at previous spellings, set for homework, and encourage your child to read them again.

  • Access the Little Wandle eBooks and then talk about what has been read.

Writing

  • Look back at previous spellings, set as homework, and practise spelling them.

  • Find a picture in a book, online or even take a photo! Ask your child to label it with adjectives or maybe they can challenge themselves to writing a description using full sentences.

  • Keep a short diary over a special weekend or half term!

Maths

  • Play games that involve teen numbers 11-20 (hopscotch, board games, number songs)

  • Download and use the free White Rose 1 minute Maths app:
