Lady Joanna Thornhill (Endowed) Primary School

Learning for the Head, Heart and Hand

PE

Vision

At Lady Joanna Thornhill (Endowed) Primary School, we are committed to enriching our pupil’s wider experience in PE by delivering a varied and diverse curriculum. Pupils are exposed to a variety of traditional and non-traditional sports both in PE lessons and as part of our lunch time and extra-curricular clubs. We develop many skills such as problem solving, resilience, tactical awareness and understanding which covers the ‘head’ section. We include teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, collaboration and compassion as part of the ‘heart’ section. We provide a strong development of fine and gross motor fundamental skills as well as fostering and developing children’s creativity in EYFS and KS1 which we then build upon in KS2 to ensure students have well established physical skills which can be linked to the ‘hand’ section.
