Week 7 of Term 1

This week we went on a fantastic trip to Wildwood!

Our stars this week are:

Charlotte and Gilbert for being amazing on our trip!

Well done to both of you.

Happy Half Term everyone!

Week 6 of Term 1

This week we have learned about things that are living, not living and things that were once alive! We have also compared forests in different parts of the world by studying the wildlife there.

Our stars this week are:

Freya for trying so hard with maths all of the time!

Joshua for his amazing manners!

Well done to both of you.

Week 5 of Term 1

This week we have planted daffodil bulbs ready for the Spring and made Hedgehog clay models with pine cones! Such fun we had.

Our stars this week are:

Katrina for being the most amazing helper and keeping the classroom clean and tidy.

Charlie for his maths work on subtraction! Well done on your meticulous attention to details.

Well done to both of you.

Week 4 of Term 1

Today we had a special music lesson, learning how to play some instruments to make the sounds of the Enchanted Woodland. Our favourite instrument was the xylophone which helped to recreated the sounds of the wind in the forests!

Our stars this week:

Kirsten for being such a superstar in her writing! What a wonderful piece of writing instructions as to 'How to Make a Woodland Crown.'

Fraser for being such a hard worker and showing real signs of independence in learning. Well done to both of you.

Week 3 of Term 1

We had such fun painting pebbles and making 'outdoor footsteps' this week in our woodland area. We were inspired by the artist Andy Goldsworthy.

Our stars this week:

Evan has had such an improvement in listening and concentration and Elsie-May for her wonderful acting skills retelling the story of The Lost Son in our R.E. lessons.

Well done to both of you!

Week 2 of Term 1

We have had so much fun with making our bird feeders and learning about birds from Mr Chantler this week!

Our Stars this week were: Georgie for settling in so well to school and showing kindness to others all of the time and Bethany for a lovely piece of writing on British birds. Well done to both of you!

Week 1 of Term 1

We have had a fantastic first week back at school. We are so proud of Hedgehog class this week as they have settled in so well coming back to school after the long Summer break.

This week we wrote about wildlife animals and practised counting and writing numbers to 20. Our Stars this week were: Taha for settling in so well to school and being such an amazing friend to others and Lyra for asking such thoughtful questions. Well done to both of you!

Hello and a very warm welcome to Year 1 Hedgehog Class Page!

Hedgehog Class Teacher is Mrs Nicholls and our Teaching Assistants are Mrs Reid (Mondays and Fridays) and Mrs Keeler (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays).

We are very much looking forward to working with your child and settling them into their new class in September.

Here is some useful information:

P.E. days are Mondays and Wednesdays (full kit required for both). As the weather gets chillier, track suit bottoms and a jumper would be useful for outdoor games (Mondays).

You do not need to provide your child with a pencil case or any stationery - we have supplies in school. This prevents anything from getting lost.

On Fridays, we can share 'Good News' if your child has anything they want to tell the class.

Please ensure your child brings a water bottle and a healthy snack everyday.

Reading books will be changed on Mondays and any home learning will be looked at on Fridays and any work shared with the class.

Many thanks in advance for your help and co-operation. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 3rd September!
