Learning for the Head, Heart and Hand

Term 6

A very happy and sunshiny welcome back to term6, our final term of the school year!

We can't wait to get started, we have so much to fit in from Sports Day to exploring the world of the Orangutans- there are so many exciting and fun learning opportunities this term.

Please find below the curriculum areas we will be looking at through this term.

English: We will be writing a non-chronological report on orangutans and using the book ‘There’s a Rangtan in My Bedroom’ as a stimulus for further writing on this topic.

Reading: In our reading practice sessions we will be continuing our Little Wandle reading using the Core or Fluency texts in Reading Groups and Little Wandle’s Year 2 Spelling units.

Maths: We will begin by learning to tell the time, before looking at tally charts and pictograms. We will also look at and position and direction and finish the term with a look back over the entirety of our year 2 content.

In the wider curriculum this term, we are studying:

History: Aviators: We will look at the first flight and identify the similarities and differences between Harriet Quimby and Bessy Coleman.

Science: We are continuing our studies of Plants, observing the seeds we have begun growing and what they need to grow into healthy plants.

Art: Rainforest inspired art. We will use different collage papers to create an effect.

DT: Mechanisms (fairground wheel)
