Welcome to the Friends' Association
The Friends’ Association is the PTA of Lady Joanna Thornhill School. We run a range of events throughout the year to bring the school community together and raise vital funds that benefit all the pupils.
In 2018/19 our fundraising efforts supported the funding towards solar panels, developing the Edible Garden, Christmas books and Year 6 leavers’ gifts. The Edible Garden won Best Community Garden in the Ashford in Bloom 2019 awards.
This year, our fundraising focus will be on improving the mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of all pupils. This includes funding athletics sessions for all pupils at the Julie Rose Stadium, developing the Edible Garden and commissioning training for teaching staff in line with wellbeing.
Our fundraising target for 2019/2020 is £15,000. The Friends’ Association has been chosen to benefit from the next round of the Co-op Local Community Fund which opens in October 2019 and closes in October 2020.
None of our fundraising would happen without the support and involvement of parents. If you could spare just half an hour of your time during the course of the year to help on a stall, that would be great. For more information on how to get involved, please contact Katherine Stephens or Farida Keen, Co-Chairs of the Friends’ Association at firstname.lastname@example.org.
