Tuesday 29th March - KS2 Basketball tournament - Towers School

A great night for basketball this week with 12 teams coming together at Towers for a brilliant tournament. Lady J we're lucky enough to have two teams in the competition and all were fantastic! Both teams were of mixed abilities and showed great sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the games! Dark blues narrowly missed a third place medal by one basket coming in fourth and the light blues came a respectable 7th!

As always at Lady J we strive for sportsmanship, respect and teamwork and both teams were exemplary of all these attributes x well done to all who played!!!

My personal player of the match goes to Owen L for constantly finding space and showing great defensive marking skills. Well done Owen!

Dark blues -Liam R, Kitty C, Ali L (who stepped in last minute!) Lottie W, Beau C and Erik T

Light blues - Joe B, Alfie R, Owen L, Annie C and Ruth D

Tuesday 23rd March - Yr 3/4 and 5/6 Hockey Tournament

An incredible evening of Hockey for the local Ashford Schools! Year 3/4 playing against four other local schools with steely grit and determination managed to win 3 out of their 4 games! Incredible teamwork and sportsmanship from all players. Some lovely goals scored by our players and some incredible defensive play!

Well done to Grace B, Martha B, Thomas B, Bronwyn R, Gilbert T and Thomas W - I think we definitely have the makings of a Lady J Hockey team to be reckoned with!!

Year 5/6 team were incredibly professional and independent, choosing their positions and ensuring a fair rotation of all players on and off the pitch! Brilliant teamwork and communication throughout all games ensured Lady J sailed through to the semi-finals and with a 4-0 win and they were ecstatic to be in the final against Th John Wesley School. A fantastic final showing our wonderful students and leading them to a final win of 3-0!!

An awesome result for all - Well done to Joe B, Kitty C, Millie H (our superstar replacement stepping in with less than an hour's notice!!!), Nathan H, Lizzy J, Fergus R, Mollie S and Erik T - Definitely a force to be reckoned with!!

If you are interested in Hockey outside of school please speak to Miss Dodsworth about Ashford Hockey Club and the teams they run.

Tuesday 8th March - Quicksticks Hockey Festival Years 3/4 and 5/6

A fantastic day at Ashford Prep School for the Quicksticks Hockey Festival today! With the current emphasis from Sport England on participation and enjoyment rather than competition. The festival was an excellent opportunity for our students to participate in more extra-curricular and inter school competitions.

Our year 3 and 4 students played wonderfully against nine other local primary schools. Excellent sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the morning and with steely determination we celebrated a number of wins, draws and learned from a few losses! It was a perfect introduction in to a competitive school competition for some and they rose to the challenge brilliantly!

Well done to Thomas B, Brookes W, Bronwyn R, Martha B, Grace B and Thomas W!

Our year 5 and 6 students were raring to go in the afternoon and showed excellent teamwork and exceptional communication skills throughout all their games and racked up a whopping 25 goals in their eight games, winning all their matches. Our students were exemplary in their manners, sportsmanship and also took the lead on organising their positions amicably between themselves allowing for a fair rotation of all positions.

Well done to Grace W, Nathan H, Mollie S, Joe B, Lizzy J and Fergus R!
