ADMINISTERING MEDICATION IN SCHOOL

When your child joined Lady Joanna Thornhill, you will have signed an authorisation for your child to receive children's paracetamol or anti-histamine with verbal consent given (unless consent was refused). We will always contact a parent/carer to seek verbal authorisation prior to administering.   Please note, we do not keep supplies of paracetamol or anti-histamine in school.  If you feel that your child will require this, please provide the school with the medication, clearly marked with your child's name.

For other medication, short or long term (antibiotics, inhalers, epipens) you will need to fill out a form (administering medication form; see above) and give us as much information as possible.  We are able to give one dose of an antibiotic or similar medication during a school day, subject to the form being completed. Please time other doses for periods outside of school time.  If your child has a long term medical condition or severe allergy, we may need to discuss treatment and agree a care plan .  Please speak to the school office if you feel that this is required.
