Learning for the Head, Heart and Hand

Term 1

Please find below the exciting units that we will be looking at in Term 1: 

 

English: This term we will be focusing our writing around a picture book called, ‘The King who Banned the Dark’.

Maths: This term is all about place value within 3-digit numbers and then moving onto addition and subtraction.

 

In the wider curriculum this term, we are studying:

Geography: In this exciting unit, children will be learning all about rivers of the UK and world and the water cycle.

Science: Our topic this term is ‘Light’ where children will learn about sources of light and how shadows are made.

Art/DT: In Art we are going to be creating light and dark with our pencil shading techniques, using a range of pencils and techniques to create light and dark in sketches.

PE: This term PE will be on Wednesday (Fundamentals) and Thursday afternoon (Yoga).

Music: The children will be developing notation skills with Mr Connelly.

Computing: The children will be exploring and answering the question, ‘What is a Network?’

RE: - We will find out about how Christians live in Britain today compared to a non-religious viewpoint.

PSHE: The children will be learning about the laws and dangers surrounding drugs, smoking and passive smoking and will link this to Article 3 which talks about adults acting in the best interests of the child.

French: I am learning French – with a focus on French phonetical alphabet.
