Please find below the curriculum areas we will be looking at throughout Term 1.
English:
This term our English learning is based on the story ‘The Gigantic Turnip’ by Aleksei Tolstoy and Niamh Sharkey. We will be using drama to immerse the children in the story before writing our own version of the story. We will finish off the term with some instruction writing. In phonics we will review some of our learning from Year 1 and look at spelling rules for adding the suffix -ed.
Maths:
In Maths we will start by looking at place value. We will look at using both manipulatives and picture representations to support our learning about partitioning numbers up to 100. We will also look at estimating numbers on number lines and counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s. Following this we will begin to look at strategies for adding and subtracting numbers to 100.
