Learning for the Head, Heart and Hand

Term 2

As we head into the busy Term 2, please find below some information about what we will be learning in the classroom: 

 

English: The children will be reading traditional fables such as Anansi and the Spider and then rewriting their own versions.

Maths: The children will complete the current unit on Addition and Subtraction and then move into a new topic of Multiplication, covering the 3-, 4- and 8-times tables.   

Reading: In Reading, we will continue to read Phonics or Fluency books three times a week, and practising our VIPERS skills, using the book: Coming Home by Michael Morpurgo.

 

In the wider curriculum this term, we will be studying:

Computing: Programming - Scratch 

Geography: Who lives in Antarctica? 

RE: How do people from religious and non-religious communities celebrate festivals? 

Science: Forces and Magnets

PE: Ball Skills (with Venture coaches on a Wednesday pm) and OAA (Chaffinch with Mrs Whitewood on a Thursday om and Blackbird with Venture coaches on a Tuesday pm)

Art and DT: Textiles (Christmas decorations)

French: Ice Cream

Music: Enjoying Improvisation

PSHE: Keeping Safe and Managing Risk
