Fox Class Weekly Blog 31st March 2023

Hello Everyone,

This week we have been exploring our science topic of Animals including Humans.  We shared all the fantastic facts we already knew before we started on our science work.  We asked questions constructing a mind map of what we knew and what we’d like to find out.

We started on humans, naming all the different parts of our bodies.

Then we explored our senses. We observed and measured our reactions as we conducted experiments on our senses.  We performed tests on our sense of;

Touch - guessing what an object was by just feeling it.

Sight -  how well can we draw when we can’t use this sense.

Hearing - can we identify sounds without seeing what is making the sound.

Taste - identifying bitter, sweet, sour and salty tastes.

Smell - identifying things by smell alone.

We recorded our findings from each of the experiments and reported back to the class.

We sorted animals into different animal groups.  We asked questions about the different groups and predicting where they might be placed based on the other animals in that group.

We found out that we can also categorise animals by the type of food they eat.

We performed examinations of animal faeces (only pretend!!) to reach conclusions as to whether the animal who left them was an omnivore, carnivore or herbivore.

We have worked scientifically and discovered lots of new information about animals including humans.

The children’s new Little Wandle Ebooks have been posted onto their accounts with an extra book for the holiday.

Our marble challenge this week has been won by the Snowdrop team with score of 23.  Well done to the other teams who did amazingly too!

We hope you all have a wonderful, restful and happy Easter!

Love from the Fox Class.
