Learning for the Head, Heart and Hand

21st April 2023

Hello Everyone,

We hope you all had a good break over Easter and managed some lovely family time together.

We  have been getting used to being back in the classroom this week after a fun filled couple of weeks.

In Maths we are practising counting in 2s, 10s and 5s.  We have had a lot of practise counting in 2s when counting up our Marble challenge, we found counting in 10s quite easy, but counting in 5s is a bit more of a challenge, so we are practising at every opportunity.

In English we are enjoying the story of ‘The Leopards Drum’ a tale from West Africa.  We are learning so fantastic new words to describe personalities through it.

We have started our science topic finding out what we know about plants and growing.  We hope to be doing some exploring and planting soon, weather permitting.

During phonics we are practising the sounds from Terms 1 and 2.  We are also being Digraph Detectives spotting them in alien words.

Mr Connolly is teaching us Music this term on a Friday.  He is good fun and we enjoy singing and playing instruments with him.

Our new Little Wandle Ebooks have been posted onto our accounts today, please check them out if you are able.

Our marble challenge this week has been won by the Primrose and Snowdrop teams with scores of 40 and 39 respectively.   Well done to the other teams who did amazingly too!

Mrs Ward is hosting a brief information session about the Phonic Screening next Friday 28th at 3.10pm.

We hope you all have a super weekend!

Love from the Fox Class.
