Lady Joanna Thornhill (Endowed) Primary School

Learning for the Head, Heart and Hand

24th November 2023

Hello Everyone,

In our English sessions, we've had a delightful time exploring the story of 'The Little Red Hen.' We have added our creative touch by incorporating adjectives into the narrative:

"Not I!" declared the pink pig.

"Not I!" exclaimed the black and white cat.

"Not I!" affirmed the grey rat.

In Mathematics, we've seamlessly integrated our understanding of the part-whole model and addition facts to delve into number bonds within 10. Our focus has been on exploring the various ways a number can be partitioned. We have also delved into number sentences, discussing the commutative nature of calculations. For instance, understanding that 3 + 1 = 4 is equivalent to 1 + 3 = 4.

This week in History, our exploration of Lady Joanna continues, and we are eagerly anticipating our upcoming trip to the church. Bedchambers are no longer a mystery to us!

In Design & Technology, we've embarked on a journey to understand the art of making bread from scratch - your children are now budding experts, having examined recipes and discussed the ingredients and steps involved. We even had an exciting experiment with yeast!

In Science, our focus has been on the beauty of seasonal change, with a special appreciation for autumn. Our outdoor adventures have honed our observational skills, and we have delved into the world of hibernating animals, inspiring some fantastic creations in our construction area—hibernating houses aplenty!

We participated in a mud run, and congratulations are in order for all the hard work that went into organising it. A big thank you to everyone who joined in the fun!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Love from Fox Class.
